Brewery Art Walk

I just found out about an event called the Brewery Art Walk which takes place downtown on October 25-26.  The Brewery where this is has actually been converted into a massive art space which houses over 100 resident artists and their studios.  The art ranges in everything from sculpture, to photography, to fashion, and anything else imaginable.  Needless to say there will be plenty to see, and admission is free!

Andy Warhol: Shadows at MOCA

Two weeks ago, MOCA welcomed Andy Warhol's Shadows, a 102 part painting series. The series consists of silk screen and handpainted canvases featuring two different compositions. The collection was inspired by photographs of shadows taken in Warhol's NYC studio. The positive and negative imprints feature a stunning range of hues with canvases alternating between a black positive on a colored ground and a small colored form on a black background. The overt repetition seen in the series is very Warhol, while the abstract subject and form strays away from his typical use of cultural icons and products. I encourage everyone to attend the exhibition, as it exemplifies many of the design elements we are studying this semester. Shadows runs through February 2, 2015.

BrainStorming Map

Here is my brainstorming map from class for the second project. My theme was dreams, it starts from the bottom and then creeps up.

Word Maps

Word maps created in class to help with brainstorming for our sketches. Time to get rolling and finish up the many many sketches we have to accomplish!

Audubon Cover

I really loved this month's cover of the Audubon Magazine. I have been using it to get inspired for my design project this week. It is an image that has been created by a graphic designer using smaller images of birds with different degrees of light and opacity.
