I'm Sean, and now that I have figured out the blog, I'm posting something! I am a freshman, majoring in fine art, probably with an emphasis in drawing or painting. I love illustration, animals, portraits, and concept art. I generally appreciate almost all art, especially pieces that inspire me or get my creativity flowing. I like to incorporate bright and vibrant colors in my work. And finally, I like high contrast in paintings or drawings, some of my favorite master artists are Caravaggio and Rembrandt.
Rembrandt's "The anatomy lesson"
Caravaggio's "Deposition"
Two of my pieces I have done recently. I have a nerdy obsession with scratchboard and prismacolor/copic markers.
Whimsical pieces with animals that I'm fond of.

It's Kate=)
Although I'm not that familiar with most of the famous artists, I do know one that I really like, Salvador Dali. When I first heard of him in Spanish class two or three years ago, I was astonished by the works he had. He is a Spanish surrealist of 1990s. Some people viewed his works as crazy and wild; to me, however, are innovative and different. His works, for most of the time, are not showing his skills of creating pieces, but strongly expressing the idea he found throughout life. When viewing his works, colors and skills are not the only things that impress people. There are something hidden behind his work, something that we could think of or might face in the future.
The work below is "Persistence de la memoire", one of his famous works. He is showing how time and space are actually existing without limits, which is totally true because time never stops. At the moment you are reading the article, that moment becomes the past. I think it is the reason that makes the world adorable and unique.

Kymberly Lawyer
Hi my name is Kymberly Lawyer and I'm from Santa Barbara CA! I've been interested in art from when I was little but began getting serious about it during high school. I took mainly ceramics classes during high school, but I want to learn more about design at USC.
One of the projects I did started when I was doing some community service for my school. I had the job of organizing tiles at the Habitat for Humanity ReStore, which sells used house supplies (like doors, ovens, and furniture). I began using the tiles to create serving trays and they eventually wanted me to sell them in the store. I've had to put a hold on the project since starting school, but hopefully I can get back to it over the summer! I found that I seem to have a very entrepreneurial mindset, so I think I should look into minoring in business as well. I'm really excited to take all of these amazing art classes at USC and be fully immersed in art in Los Angeles!
Here is the Link to my online portfolio:
Linh
Hello there, I'm Linh, and I love love love flowers. They are definitely one of my favorite things to draw, photograph, and not to mention, receive as a gift! So, it's no wonder that one of my favorite artists is Georgia O'Keeffe. Her approach to illustrating flowers is absolutely unique and perceptive. Here's an inspiration board of some of my photography & her paintings:
Cullen C.
My name is Cullen, freshman, undeclared major. I have no artistic experience but I am interested in art. I find cars and motorcycles incredibly beautiful and fascinating, and I love sketch art, so it's not a surprise why I chose the following images.
Kyle Aube
Hey everyone, I'm Kyle from Palos Verdes, CA. I got into pottery in eighth grade after taking a ceramics class and ended up taking classes in school ever since. I really love throwing on the wheel and the challenge that creating a new piece always brings. A little more about me, I've played sports nearly my entire life and have a strong interest in cars as well. Here are a few pieces I made a couple years back.
Brooks W.
Hey guys,
My name is Brooks, I am a freshman art major at Roski and plan to minor in film and the communication design program. My concentrations are photography and design, but I also love printmaking, styling, and sculpture. Some of my main interests aside from photography include hip-hop, fashion, and Japan.
At the beginning of 2012 I launched my first clothing line called AFM. (Aiming For Millions) It is made up of high end streetwear with a prominent hip-hop vibe and has some other cool influences. A few of my favorite fashion designers are Nigo, Alexander Wang, Yohji Yamamoto, and Pierre Balmain. I am also a big fan of Raf Simmons and Givenchy's current creative director, Ricardo Tisci. I listen to a lot of hip-hop; Wiz, A$AP Rocky, Dom Kennedy, OFWGKTA, G.O.O.D. Music, and all of the other greats out there. I love people who express themselves creatively. Pharrell is my biggest inspiration. Can't wait to meet you all this year!

That's kind of my type of music. I like to listen to a variety of different music but I love old school/modern hip hop and old school R&B. I'm always interested in discovering new artists and songs so please recommend me some!

Jackson Corey
Hello, I am Jackson Corey -- I am a freshman at Roski with a design emphasis and hopefully will be minoring in entrepreneurship. I am from the Philadelphia area and along with taking my high school's art courses, I participated in at least one art program per summer at one of Philly's art colleges. My art/design is primarily digital (photoshop, illustrator, indesign); however, I started my art career painting and drawing and still start out each project traditionally before transferring it over to the computer.
I am posting a website called "Cargo Collective" which is a where I find a lot of inspiration from working designers around the world. Cargo Collective showcases many of their sites and pictures and it is interesting to see their styles and techniques.

Hello, I'm Kevin Kim, a freshman from Roski, and I'm just placing a link to my blog where I occasionally post my work.
http://theartjournal-ovek.blogspot.com
About Me: I started drawing when I was 15 just going on 16 and my only "significant"hobby back then was video games. I had to quit playing because it became an addiction so I focused more on academics, I'd occasionally get bored through out and drew since I always had paper and a pencil in hand. Not until the beginning of senior year, when I was captivated by entertainment design with several brilliant artists such as Kekai Kotaki and Daniel Dociu, was the moment I wanted to become a professional concept artist for the entertainment industry and decided to apply for at least some art schools and Roski's program stuck out compared to other competitors. I'm glad to say that I'm proud to be a part of this school and hope to learn and talk with other ambitious artists.

Hey guys!
I'm Sarah. I'm a sophomore from Calgary, Canada and was very into art throughout high school. I love working with oil pastels, watercolours, and photography. Last fall I took Intro to Photography in Roski and loved it (I'll scan some of my work and put it up once it's unpacked!). I'm taking Digital Photography this semester as well as FADN. I have a serious addiction to Pinterest and get a ton of my inspiration from there. Below is a photo of a wearable art piece I created out of recycled materials that was based around the concept of air pollution, as well as an analog and digital photo. Enjoy!
Hey everyone, I'm Matthew Torres. I'm excited to meet all the passionate, talented, artists that Roski has to offer, and I am always down to kick back on a couch to talk and doodle. I'm from the suburbs of Chicago but lived in the Bay Area for most of my life.
The bulk of my work was produced during my senior year in high school, and I'm still deciding what my favorite mediums are. I mostly draw from my head, and figure out what everything will look like as I'm going along.
These are two pieces I made in AP Studio Art. Although I despised the class in high school, it did force me to produce the majority of my portfolio.
Along with art, I love hip hop dance, skateboarding, reading, and downloading new music. See you all in class!

hi, i'm michael khesh!
a while back i was in new york and i stumbled into some department store, and i distinctly remember seeing this beautiful fleur-de-lis ring in a center showcase. i must've walked past it like six times and finally broke down and tried it on. i loved it. the only problem was that it had way too many zeros on the price tag. i was pretty bummed on the walk back to my hotel, but it got me thinking, "i can probably make some of my own jewelry for a fraction of the price!" and so, ever since then i've been sketching my pieces on paper, carving them out of wax, and casting them in silver. here are some pictures i took at the shop today..

Hey there!
My name is Kristine Ortega and I'm from the suburbs of Chicago. I did a lot of photography in high school and I'm excited to pursue it. At the same time, I'm excited to immerse myself in new types of art--especially design. Outside of photography, I am passionate about learning different styles of dance and hope to be involved in dance groups here at USC.
This is a self portrait I did one week when my room was a mess. I thought it was a fun way to show my Saturday morning in one picture. I love it when my work is personal and simply describes who I am.

I did another project entitled "Body Abstractions," where I used different objects and color schemes to bring out the beautiful textures and forms of different parts of the body one usually doesn't notice.
The rest of this project and my work is on my website!
Hello world!
My name is Janelle Wen. I'm from the beautiful city of San Diego. Now, I am an official BA at Roski with the emphasis in photography and design (but I'm still testing out the waters). While at USC I plan on getting involved with dance and Christian groups on campus. I like photographing movement and line.
Hey, it's Keely!
This piece, which I completed last year, is called Double-Sided Self Portrait (I am half German and half India). The point of this studio piece was to compare and contrast Indian and Western views of apparel/beauty. Indian attire is very focused on fabric. The beauty of an outfit is found in the intricate designs and patterns of the fabric, the bold color, and the quality of the material. You can see, in the image on the left, that the background detracts from any emphasis on silhouette and instead brings more attention to the fabric.
On the contrary, Western attire focuses much more on flattery of one's figure. In the image on the right side, the contour of the body is highlighted with a contrasting background. The colors are more muted so that the silhouette - not the fabric - is highlighted.
I cannot think of a piece I have done that can describe me better than this one!

Hi, my name is Tomas.
Here are a few artists that I love from DeviantArt.com
