Hey its Sean

I'm Sean, and now that I have figured out the blog, I'm posting something! I am a freshman, majoring in fine art, probably with an emphasis in drawing or painting. I love illustration, animals, portraits, and concept art. I generally appreciate almost all art, especially pieces that inspire me or get my creativity flowing. I like to incorporate bright and vibrant colors in my work. And finally, I like high contrast in paintings or drawings, some of my favorite master artists are Caravaggio and Rembrandt.

Although I'm not that familiar with most of the famous artists, I do know one that I really like, Salvador Dali. When I first heard of him in Spanish class two or three years ago, I was astonished by the works he had. He is a Spanish surrealist of 1990s. Some people viewed his works as crazy and wild; to me, however, are innovative and different. His works, for most of the time, are not showing his skills of creating pieces, but strongly expressing the idea he found throughout life. When viewing his works, colors and skills are not the only things that impress people. There are something hidden behind his work, something that we could think of or might face in the future. 

 The work below is "Persistence de la memoire", one of his famous works. He is showing how time and space are actually existing without limits, which is totally true because time never stops. At the moment you are reading the article, that moment becomes the past. I think it is the reason that makes the world adorable and unique.

Kymberly Lawyer

Hi my name is Kymberly Lawyer and I'm from Santa Barbara CA! I've been interested in art from when I was little but began getting serious about it during high school. I took mainly ceramics classes during high school, but I want to learn more about design at USC. 

One of the projects I did started when I was doing some community service for my school. I had the job of organizing tiles at the Habitat for Humanity ReStore, which sells used house supplies (like doors, ovens, and furniture). I began using the tiles to create serving trays and they eventually wanted me to sell them in the store. I've had to put a hold on the project since starting school, but hopefully I can get back to it over the summer! I found that I seem to have a very entrepreneurial mindset, so I think I should look into minoring in business as well. I'm really excited to take all of these amazing art classes at USC and be fully immersed in art in Los Angeles!

Hello there, I'm Linh, and I love love love flowers. They are definitely one of my favorite things to draw, photograph, and not to mention, receive as a gift! So, it's no wonder that one of my favorite artists is Georgia O'Keeffe. Her approach to illustrating flowers is absolutely unique and perceptive. Hey everyone, I'm Kyle from Palos Verdes, CA. I got into pottery in eighth grade after taking a ceramics class and ended up taking classes in school ever since. I really love throwing on the wheel and the challenge that creating a new piece always brings. Hey guys,

My name is Brooks, I am a freshman art major at Roski and plan to minor in film and the communication design program. My concentrations are photography and design, but I also love printmaking, styling, and sculpture. Some of my main interests aside from photography include hip-hop, fashion, and Japan. 

At the beginning of 2012 I launched my first clothing line called AFM. (Aiming For Millions) It is made up of high end streetwear with a prominent hip-hop vibe and has some other cool influences. A few of my favorite fashion designers are Nigo, Alexander Wang, Yohji Yamamoto, and Pierre Balmain. I am also a big fan of Raf Simmons and Givenchy's current creative director, Ricardo Tisci. I listen to a lot of hip-hop; Wiz, A$AP Rocky, Dom Kennedy, OFWGKTA, G.O.O.D. Music, and all of the other greats out there. I love people who express themselves creatively. Pharrell is my biggest inspiration. Can't wait to meet you all this year!
