3 Points:
1. the point where the pieces of a car engine come together at the moment of ignition
2. the highest point on the planet
3. the tip of your innermost top left eyelash
Ways:
[point is the eyelash tip]
1. wear insane makeup
2. wear an eyepatch with just the lash tip sticking out
3. paint it red
4. constantly blink with your left eye only
5. wear a t-shirt with a picture of the eyelash highlighted
6. pluck it out and frame it in a gigantic frame in the middle of an empty room
7. write a pulitzer-prize winning novel about it
8. mention it in every single sentence you say
9. attract national attention by having it star in an inappropriate youtube video
10. superglue your hand to it
Art vs. Design
To me, art and design are mutually exclusive. The biggest difference between the two is that art has no utilitarian quality to it, whereas design is inherently made to be used. Art can stimulate the senses, provoke thought, challenge the status quo. However, art cannot be used as one uses an iPod, a Maserati, an advertisement, a piece of furniture, et cetera. Things you specifically USE are products of design, not pieces of art. If the design is spectacular and merits placement in a museum, it ceases to be a designed product and becomes art. After all, how many times do you see people having lunch at the Frank Lloyd Wright dining table sets in a museum? If an object is deprived of its original use, it gains all the attributes assigned to art but loses those originally given to it through design.
